Factors that are supportive to me in my daily life:
·         Time
·         Job
·         Car
·         Home
·         Tools
·         Phone
·         Food
·         Water
·         Sun

Way these factors provide support:
·         Time= keeps my schedule
·         Job= pays bills
·         Car= transportation
·         Home=shelter
·         Tools=make life easier
·         Phone= maintain contact
·         Food=healthy
·         Water=hydrated
·         Sun= helps me grow

Benefits of these factors:
·         Time= time management
·         Job= gain responsibility
·         Car= keeps me mobile
·         Home= safety
·         Tools= inventions
·         Phone= readily available
·         Food= live
·         Water= replenish cells
·         Sun= happiness
Impact if these factors were gone:
·         Time= late and lazy
·         Job=poor and have lack of responsibility
·         Car=stranded
·         Home= homeless
·         Tools=  no way to progress
·         Phone=no communication
·         Food= starve
·         Water= thirsty
·         Sun= depressed

Specific challenge: hearing loss
Factors of my daily life, the benefits and support would be the same.
·         Time
·         Job
·         Car
·         Home
·         Tools
·         Phone
·         Food
·         Water
·         Sun

Way these factors provide support:
·         Time= keeps my schedule
·         Job= pays bills
·         Car= transportation
·         Home=shelter
·         Tools=make life easier
·         Phone= maintain contact
·         Food=healthy
·         Water=hydrated
·         Sun= helps me grow

Benefits of these factors:
·         Time= time management
·         Job= gain responsibility
·         Car= keeps me mobile
·         Home= safety
·         Tools= inventions
·         Phone= readily available
·         Food= live
·         Water= replenish cells
Sun= happiness

I think that if I was not supported in my daily life I would be a sad soul. I would be broke, living on the streets, stranded, hungry and depressed. So I thank god I am happy and blessed.

EDUC 6161 Week 4 Blog
Title” My Connection to play”
Quotes:
·         “Play is the highest form of research” by Alert Einstein
·         “ Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning” by Mr. Rogers

Pictures of play items from my past:

How I was supported by family with regards to play:
When I was in Kindergarten my mother volunteered in my classroom. She was there to help the ESL students, but just knowing she cared enough to be a part of my class was support enough for me.
Also when I was about five or six my nana let us use her silverware as shovels. We thought we were digging up dinosaur bones and spent hours digging in the front yard. Many bent spoons and forks later we never found any bones just uncovered all the tree roots. My nana supported us by letting us be creative and build our sensory skills.
Play of my past vs. Play of today:
I have one word for the differences of play from my past and the play of today: TECHNOLOGY. There are so many things I did outside and in the neighborhood that the kids of today just don’t do. The devices of our society have influence the concept of play for our children. I think it is good to keep the children current on new changes but I also believe it can destroy the traditions of the past.
My thoughts on the role of play in my life:
As a child I played make believe and board games. I had fun and I developed life skills that have gotten to where I am today. Now as an adult I get to see my son experience that concept of play. But I also still get to play with him. It is the best of both worlds. Of course I had to trade my Barbie for a tonka truck, but it is still worth it to play with Wyatt.

Child favs

My favorite Child Quote (Whitney Houston  1963 – 2012)

(Also sung by George Benson.Written by Michael Masser & Linda Creed)

“I believe the children are our future,

teach them well and let them lead the way.

Show them all the beauty they possess inside.

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier.

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be.”

My favorite Children’s book

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by, Laura Joffe Numeroff and Felicia Bond: This story is about cause and effect, consequences to actions, and it offers enough fun and entertainment as it shares a story about a boy and his mouse and of course a cookie.  The illustrations make this tale even more fun.  It is one of my favorites. I like stories that can relate to children and also provide educational lessons. All children can understand cause and effect after hearing this story.

College mom for life:

My name is Alyssa Wilson. I am thirty three and I live in Parker, Arizona. I am home grown and I am raising my son here surrounded by family. We are Parker people. I graduated from Parker High in 1998 and have been going to college ever since. I am currently working on my Master’ s degree in Early Childhood. My original plan was to become a teacher by the time my son started Kindergarten, that way we would have the same schedule. I love school and always have. I believe that knowledge is the one thing that everyone can possess and grow from.

My family is composed of my husband of three years and my son Wyatt, oh and my smelly pug Cosmo. My parents also live in Parker and are very involved in our community. My sister and sister in law also live in Parker and we all get together when we can. I think family is important. My husband’s family also lives here in Parker with the exception of my in-laws (which is a blessing in disguise). I married a “mommas” boy.

I currently work at Arizona Western College Parker Learning Center. I am the registration and admissions clerk. I really like working in the field of education and I love being involved in helping my community reach the goal of higher education. I am undecided on pursuing my goal of becoming a teacher or applying for a position within my employment as an academic advisor.

I hope to gain more knowledge of children and their learning styles. I wanted to finish my Masters and my son was my inspiration. I worked as a speech aid at the elementary school years ago and my love for helping students developed from that experience. I also worked at a local daycare center and I saw the learning abilities of children from infant to preschool age children grow and I feel a connection to help people and expose education to everyone I meet.
All my free time is filled with anything bridal or wedding related. I really would like to become a certified wedding and event planner. I would like to have my own bridal shop and plan magical events for my community. I spend every non mom moment on a bridal website, or magazine. It is kind of my obsession. My heart lies in a marriage of education and wedding bliss.
