College mom for life:
My name
is Alyssa Wilson. I am thirty three and I live in Parker, Arizona. I am home
grown and I am raising my son here surrounded by family. We are Parker people.
I graduated from Parker High in 1998 and have been going to college ever since.
I am currently working on my Master’ s degree in Early Childhood. My original
plan was to become a teacher by the time my son started Kindergarten, that way
we would have the same schedule. I love school and always have. I believe that
knowledge is the one thing that everyone can possess and grow from.
My
family is composed of my husband of three years and my son Wyatt, oh and my
smelly pug Cosmo. My parents also live in Parker and are very involved in our
community. My sister and sister in law also live in Parker and we all get
together when we can. I think family is important. My husband’s family also
lives here in Parker with the exception of my in-laws (which is a blessing in
disguise). I married a “mommas” boy.
I
currently work at Arizona Western College Parker Learning Center. I am the
registration and admissions clerk. I really like working in the field of
education and I love being involved in helping my community reach the goal of
higher education. I am undecided on pursuing my goal of becoming a teacher or
applying for a position within my employment as an academic advisor.
I hope
to gain more knowledge of children and their learning styles. I wanted to
finish my Masters and my son was my inspiration. I worked as a speech aid at
the elementary school years ago and my love for helping students developed from
that experience. I also worked at a local daycare center and I saw the learning
abilities of children from infant to preschool age children grow and I feel a
connection to help people and expose education to everyone I meet.
All
my free time is filled with anything bridal or wedding related. I really would
like to become a certified wedding and event planner. I would like to have my
own bridal shop and plan magical events for my community. I spend every non mom
moment on a bridal website, or magazine. It is kind of my obsession. My heart
lies in a marriage of education and wedding bliss.
